Ode of an Israelite » Celtic Cross

  1. Could you please explain to me exactly what this symbol represents? and some clarification on what it is and what it contains (is it a celtic cross? and is it composed of celtic knots?) thank you!

    • Well to explain “exactly” would be a bit of a long shot. The beauty and attraction of the celtic cross goes back to the time of St. Patrick. But the origins of the knots and circle around the cross can be somewhat controversial having it’s roots (some say) in the paganism of the early celts who worshipped trees and the moon. But I also believe another theory makes the connection to Celtic art and the Lost tribes of Israel which some believe ended up on the Emerald Ile. St. Patrick (according to the Book of Kells) was a Jew and was called to bring the gospel to the People of God who had fallen back into the paganism not unlike the tribes that surrounded physical Israel before the exile.
